Which ChemDraw editions is suitable?
How do I decide which ChemDraw alternative is appropriate for my institution?
When deciding which version of ChemDraw to purchase, you may be confused by the wide array of products available. This helps you decide which software product is best for your institution and your needs. It addresses these questions:
- Which scientists?
- ChemDraw for chemists; BioDraw for biologists; ChemBioDraw for all life sciences. The same naming applies to ChemBio3D and ChemBioOffice.
- Which software?
- ChemDraw does just chemical drawing and analysis; ChemOffice adds in several other packages, including:
- Chem3D for three-dimensional visualization and analysis
- E-Notebook for capturing lab notebooks electronically
- Inventory for tracking chemical substances
- ChemINDEX online database plus other databases.
- Which features?
- ChemDraw Ultra is our full-featured software (the "Ultra" term applies to ChemOffice and all other software as well). Our "Pro" version has fewer features and a lower price; and our "Std" version includes just the basics.
- How many users?
- We offer single-seat licenses; discounted multi-seat licenses; and unlimited-seat site licenses. We also offer one-year terms, multi-year terms, or perpetual term licenses.
- Which server?
- For ChemOffice users, you can share data with your colleagues directly on your server. Our options include:
- Desktop: uses an internal SQL Express database, for up to 5 users.
- Workgroup: uses your existing SQL Server database, for more than 5 users.
- SQL Enterprise: uses your existing SQL Server, and includes services for installation, data migration, and customization.
- Oracle Enterprise: uses your existing Oracle Server, with full custom services.
